HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Redshirt junior outfielder Bodie Pullen (Winchester, Va./James Wood) singled home junior pinch runner Nathaniel Brookshire (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Shepherd University (26-17) to a 9-8 win over Frostburg State (27-14) in baseball action at Meritus Park on Tuesday night.
Frostburg State took a 5-0 lead in the third inning with a three-run homer from Jackson Shalick keying the rally.
Shepherd plated two runs in the fourth behind RBI-singles from redshirt junior outfielder Ethan Jones (Oakton, Va./Oakton) and redshirt sophomore utility Colin Ahart (Pennsauken, N.J./St. Joseph Academy).
The Bobcats took a 6-2 lead in the sixth when Landon Marple doubled, stole third, and then scored on a throwing error.
The Rams plated six runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-6 advantage. Jones hit a two-run homer to ignite the rally.
Frostburg State plated one in the seventh when Shalick walked and later scored on a double from Jake Holler.
The Bobcats tied the game 8-8 in the ninth on a sacrifice-fly from Logan Helser to score pinch runner Tiernan Daly.
Ahart singled in the tenth and was replaced by Brookshire to set the stage for Pullen's game-winning hit.
Jones had a pair of hits and drove in two to pace the Rams.
Shalick had two hits with two runs and three RBIs for the Bobcats.
Redshirt junior pitcher Jesse Specter (Woolwich Township, N.J./Moorestown/West Chester) (2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 K, 2 BB) (4-0) earned the win. Joey Serafin (2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 K, 0 BB) (4-2) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m doubleheader.
