McKenzie was a four-year letterwinner who led the Rams in rushing, and gained particular honorable mention WVIAC All-Star honors in 1951. Not only did McKenzie serve as team captain his senior year, he was also president of his class and fraternity. McKenzie later went on to a very successful career in the United States Air Force. He flew over 200 missions in Vietnam and recieved six medals from the Air Force, including two Air Force commendation medals and a bronze star. McKenzie later earned his master's degree from the University of Southern California and taught junior and senior high school science in Florida from 1975 until 1990.
