Riggleman was a four-sport coach for the Rams whose career spanned three decades. Riggleman coached the Ram football team for 11 years, posted a 45-38-4 (.512) record, from 1956-66, including a 7-1-1 mark in 1963. He also coached the Shepherd basketball team from 1956-59, compiling a 25-34 (.424) mark, and the Ram baseball team for seven years from 1968-72 and 1975-76. Riggleman also served as athletic director and was the coach of Shepherd's first track team in 1960. A 1941 graduate of Shepherd, Riggleman was captain of the 1940 football team. In 1940 he set a school record with a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown to lift the Rams to a 7-6 win over Fairmont. He also was a standout basketball and baseball player.
