Hall of Fame
Holmes was a two-sport standout for the Rams. He was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and baseball from 1970-74. Holmes was a two-time All-Conference choice on the hardcourt and helped lead the Rams to a pair of 20-win seasons. He was the leading hitter for the baseball team in three of his four seasons and posted a 9-0 career mark on the mound. Holmes went on to a successful coaching career as a high school baseball and basketball coach. He led the Martinsburg High School baseball team to three state titles. He has provided the radio color commentary for the Shepherd football games for over 20 years and has also served in a similar capacity for Shepherd basketball broadcasts.
