Hall of Fame
Chandler was a standout outfielder for the Shepherd baseball team from 1982-84. He helped guide the Rams to a 51-44 (.537) record and a pair of WVIAC titles in 1983 and 1984. Chandler was also the WVIAC All-Conference selection in 1983 and 1984. He finished with a .368 career batting average. He also scored 75 career runs and recorded 100 career hits. All three marks still rank him on the school's top-10 list. Chandler has been a successful teacher and coach at Waynesboro High School (VA), since 1988. Chandler has earned Coach of the Year honors four times. Chandler's teams have won five Blue Mountain League titles and two Mid Penn I Conference titles. One of Chandler's prize pupils, Matt White, signed one of the most lucrative amateur contracts in professional baseball when he signed for 10.2 million dollars with the Tampa bay Devil Rays.
