Calhoun helped lead Shepherd to its second-ever WVIAC football title in 1972 while guiding the Rams to a sparkling 14-4-1 record during his two final seasons. He concluded his career at Shepherd as the all-time leader in completions (154), attempts (358), and passing yards (2,041); he still ranks among the top 10 in all three categories. As a freshman, Calhoun set a then-school record, with 274 yards passing against Glenville. As a senior he was team captain and a four-year letterwinner. Calhoun is now an athletic administrator and a highly-successful high school football coach.
