Hall of Fame
McCollough was a four-year standout for the Shepherd football team from 1981-84. He helped guide the Rams to a 31-8-1 (.788) record and WVIAC title sin 1982 and 1983. In addition, the 1983 team made the school's first-ever trip to the NAIA Playoffs. A two-time WVIAC First Team selection, McCollough also earned NAIA All-American honors in 1983 (honorable mention) and 1984 (Second Team). Also an excellent student, McCollough earned NAIA Academic All-American First Team honors in1983 and 1984. He finished his career as the fourth-ranked all-time receiver with 68 receptions for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns. His single-game mark of four touchdown catches against Fairmont State in 1983 is still a Shepherd record today.
Teammate John Howerton said, "Andy was an athlete of great character, possessing a tireless work ethic on the field and in the classroom. His winning attitude and commitment to excellence were traits few could match."
Andy has further distinguished himself since graduating from Shepherd, as a Corporate National Account Manager with MCI and subsequently accepted a director's position with Metromedia Fiber Network.
