Booth was a three-year letter winner in football for the Rams from 1950-52.  Prior to coming to Shepherd, Booth starred at Potomac State and earned a place on Shepherd's all-opponent team in 1950.  Booth led th e Rams in rushing with 440 yards in 1952 and earned WVIAC All-Conference honors.  His 7.7 yards per carry average was best in the West Virginia Conference that season.  He later went on to a very successful career as a teacher, coach and administrator.  Dick Harmison, a teammate and longtime friend said, "Jack was a great athlete, with speed, agility, toughness and quickness."  The late Dana "Horse" Lough, legendary coach at Potomac State College, called Booth one of the best backs he ever coached.  During Booth's nearly 40 years in education he was greatly respected by students, players, colleagues and parents alike.  Booth retired as Principal of Frederick Douglas Elementary School, Winchester, VA in 1989.  Jack and his wife Peggy have been married for 50 years.  The Booth's have four married children:  Ann, David, Sally and Jackie.
