Lugat was a standout linebacker for the Rams from 1979-82. He helped guide the Rams to a four-year record fo 30-9-2 (.738) and a WVIAC title in 1982. Lugat set a school record for single season tackles (139) and was named WVIAC Defensive Player of the Year in 1982. He later garnered NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors. Lugat finished his career as the all-time leading tackler in school history with 341 tackles, including 144 solos. He is currently ranked fourth on the all-time list in tackles and sixth in solo tackles.
