Hall of Fame
Diehl was an outstanding outfielder for the Rams from 1980-83. He helped lead Shepherd to a 17-12 record and its first WVIAC title in 1983. The epitome of a student-athlete, Diehl was named a McMurran Scholar, Shepherd's highest academic honor. Diehl earned honorable mention WVIAC All-Star honors in 1981 and special honorable mention honors in 1983. He hit over .320 in each of his four years at Shepherd. A fantastic all-around player, he graduated as the all-time leader in batting (.342), hits (126), doubles (19), triples (10), home runs (14), RBIs (83), runs scored (84), total bases (207), stolen bases (42), and hit by pitch (9). He still ranks in the all-time top-10 in all these categories, and his record for triples still stands today. Diehl is now a successful partner with an accounting firm in Charles Town.
