Warfield played four years as a fullback for the Ram football team, lettering all four years.  Gregg finished his career as the program's all-time leading scorer (222 points), rusher (3,244 yds), rusher by carries (936 attempts), rushing touchdown leader (32), overall touchdown leader (37), in addition to establishing single-season marks for most points (90) and touchdowns (15).  He earned First Team All-WVIAC honors in 1976, 1977 and 1978, and was an All-America Honorable Mention in 1976.
